GEORGE TOWN: The state government has waived the requirement for building and planning approvals for the installation of WiFi equipment in line with its bold initiative to make Penang a WiFi state within the next two years.
Chief minister Lim Guan Eng said such approvals, via the Penang Island and Seberang Perai municipal councils, would usually take from six months to a year.
