Parliament in brief: Broadband plan stays

THE Penang state government will continue with its free wireless@Penang broadband project, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said yesterday. He said there was no scientific evidence to show that the use of wireless connections to the Internet would pose health risks — the main concern of non-governmental organisations. Last September, the state government announced the implementation of wireless broadband services. They are the free-of-charge WiFi and the wireless wimax.
